Dr. Schweser is a physicist with specific training in quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He received his Ph.D. from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany.  Since he entered the field of MRI, Dr. Schweser has been intrigued by quantitative methods because they apply principles and concepts from physics, mathematics, and computer sciences to understand disease mechanisms better and improve the care of patients with neurological diseases.

Dr. Schweser's research ranges from mathematical physics to computer science to clinical and preclinical research. Most notably, he has co-developed Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) in Jürgen Reichenbach's group in Jena, Germany. QSM is a powerful imaging technique used to assess tissue magnetic properties. QSM has become a valuable tool for studying neurological conditions and is used worldwide in neurological research.

In his free time, Dr. Schweser enjoys spending quality time with his three children, indulging in his passion for reading,  tinkering with electronics, cycling, and engaging in the serious endeavor of baking traditional German rye bread.
