Introduction to Molecular Imaging

Molecular Imaging is a powerful medical imaging technique which provides an insight into the functioning of the body at the molecular and cellular level. This technique is distinct from other methods of diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays, Computed Tomography (CT) and ultrasound, which primarily focus on providing an anatomical view. Through the use of Molecular Imaging, physicians are able to gain a better understanding of how the body is functioning and measure the chemical and biological processes within it. This course will give students exposure to the various modalities of Molecular Imaging, such as Positron Emission Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Optical Imaging, and Physiologic factors influencing the bio-distribution.
